14 workers arrest in Chandpur on suspicion of robbery with arms

Coastguard has arrested fourteen trawlers and dredger workers on suspicion of robbery at the Loggimara Chara of Meghna river in Chandpur. Two trawlers and a dredger were also seized. The Coast Guard conducted the raid on the Meghna river on Monday night (February 3).

The media was confirmed from the Coast Guard Chandpur station at 10am on Tuesday (February 4th).

Coast Guard Chandpur Station Commander Lieutenant ASM Lutfar Rahman told that at night we were ordered to stop when we saw a trawler in the river. But without stopping the trailer, two rounds were fired. They later escaped to a bulkhead and were arrested from there. During this time some domestic weapons, 10 pitch Yaba and some cannabis were recovered.

He added that although the detainees said they were trawler and dredger workers. They work in dredgers on a daily basis. The Coast Guard official said legal action was taken against the detainees. Coast Guard Chandpur station commanders and members of the patrol were present in the operation.
