SSC-HSC exam: Alternative method will be announced after Eid

If it is not possible to take the pending SSC and HSC exams this year, an expert committee formed by the Ministry of Education is looking for alternative methods. Although the committee has already sent a proposal, it is being amended to some extent. If it is not possible to take the exam, government will present the alternative method after Eid.

It is learned that if the coronavirus situation is normal, the short syllabus will be completed in 60 days for SSC candidates and in 64 days for HSC candidates. Students are currently preparing for it. It is not possible to open an educational institution due to the abnormal increase in corona infections and deaths. For this reason, the education minister has indicated that it is impossible to take the exam after completing the short syllabus. She also said that alternative methods are being sought.

Asked about this, Information and Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Education MA Khair told, “A committee formed by the Ministry of Education is working on it. When it is finalized, the education minister will hold a press conference and present it to the journalists.”

He said a press conference of the education minister would be held at the end of this month.

As seen in the multiple proposals of the committee, only multiple choice questions (MCQ) should be examined excluding compositional or creative questions. Taking exams by reducing the subject and full standard (total number of exams). In this case, to merge two letters of each subject.

Besides, the test will be taken at 100 marks instead of 200 marks. But in both cases there is a need to improve the situation. In other words, if the infection falls below 10 percent, the test will be taken after confirming the hygiene rules.

If this is not possible, in the case of SSC, 50 per cent of the results of the Junior School Certificate (JSC) examination and 50 per cent of the results on assignments and class activities may be prepared. In case of HSC, the result can be given by combining 50% of the result of SSC, 25% of JSC and 25% of the result of assignment.
