100% train ticket sales begin from Wednesday

The Bangladesh Railway Authority has decided to sell 100% tickets for intercity trains from next Wednesday, February 9. Of this, 50 percent of the total seats will be available at the ticket counter and the remaining 50 percent will be available online.

This information has been given in a notification of the railway on Sunday.

Earlier, Bangladesh Railway suspended selling tickets at railway station counters from March 26 due to coronavirus. After 68 days, on May 31, the train was launched in a limited range, but the railways were selling tickets only online.

The organization had decided that even if the Corona situation becomes normal, intercity train tickets would never be given at the counter again. More than seven crore people in the country are not using the internet; In such a reality, the decision to sell 100% of the tickets online is facing criticism.

However, passengers have to follow hygiene rules and wear masks while collecting tickets from the counter and traveling by train. In addition, the issue of standing tickets on intercity trains and platform tickets at stations will be completely closed.
