At least three people have been killed after eight bogies of a passenger train derailed in the western US state of Montana. And several passengers were injured.
The news agency Reuters reported.
A local sheriff’s office official said the train crashed Saturday in local time in the north-central state of Montana. The train of Amtrak, the railway operator, left Chicago for Seattle. The train had 141 passengers and 16 crew on-board, Amtrak said.
The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board said Saturday night that the train crash would be investigated.
An official at the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office said on condition of anonymity that people trapped in the bogie were taken off the train shortly after they derailed.
It is learned that more than one person was injured in the accident but the official could not give the final number. A social media user posted a picture of the damaged train after the accident.
