WFP won the Nobel Peace Prize this year

The United Nations World Food Program (WFP) has won the Nobel Peace Prize this year for its efforts to fight against hunger.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee announced the winner of this year’s Nobel Peace Prize from the capital, Oslo, at 11:00 a.m. local time on Friday (October 09).

The Norwegian Nobel Committee says the WFP was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for acting as a driving force to prevent the use of hunger as a weapon of war and conflict.

It added that the WFP has played a key role in multilateral cooperation in building food security as an instrument of peace and has been instrumental in uniting UN member states to combat the use of hunger as a weapon of war and conflict.

A WFP spokesman said it was a “proud moment” to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.

The World Food Program is a United Nations food aid organization. It is the largest organization in the world involved in hunger and food security. According to the World Food Program, the agency provides food aid to 97 crore people in 88 countries each year. It has more than 80 branches worldwide.
