With The Push Of Mayur-2 Launch, Sinks More Than 50 Passengers

With the push of Mayur-2 launch sinks with more than 50 passengers: 17 bodies recovered.The bodies of 17 people have so far been recovered after a Dhaka-Chandpur- river route Mayur-2 launch sank in the Buriganga River near Shyambazar in the capital with more than 50 passengers on board. The launch had more than 50 passengers. The diving unit of Sadarghat River Fire Station of Fire Service is conducting search operation. Azizul Islam, an official of the fire service headquarters, confirmed the matter.

Rozina Akhter, duty officer at the fire service and civil defense headquarters, said at 11:30 am the fire service had recovered 17 bodies so far including three women, seven men and a child.

It is known that the Morning Bird launch with at least 50 passengers sank on Monday (June 29) at around 9:00 am when it collided with the Mayur-2 launch on the Dhaka-Chandpur river route. Several passengers swam from the launch, but several are still missing. Fire service divers have already launched a rescue operation to rescue the missing.

Locals also said that the two-storey Morning Bird launch from Munshiganj hit the Mayur-2 launch just before landing at Sadarghat Kathpatti Ghat. This caused the relatively small Morning Bird launch to sink.

Meanwhile, the rescue ship Pratya has left Narayanganj to rescue the launch Morning Bird that sank with more than 50 passengers in Buriganga.
