Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,’World Cup gift to the nation in Mujib Year’.She has termed the Bangladesh U-19 World Cup win as a gift to the nation during the Mujib Year. The Prime Minister said this at the commencement of the cabinet meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office on Monday morning.
Prime Minister said, ‘Winning the World Cup trophy for the Bangladesh U-19 cricket team is a gift to the nation during the Mujib year. The players of Bangladesh team have worked hard for the last four years in front of the Under-19 World Cup. Through the great performances throughout the tournament, they have been rewarded for their hard work. Bangladesh team lost to four-time U-19 World Cup champions India. Our players have a lot of courage. They are moving slowly’.
The Prime Minister also announced that a huge reception will be given to the Under-5 World Cup winning Bangladesh team. Recalling the colorful reception to the Bangladesh national cricket team at Manik Mia Avenue in the capital after being championed in the ICC tournament in the year 1997, she said, ‘Whenever the Bangladesh team wins a trophy, we welcome them. After returning home, we will also extend a warm welcome to the ICC U-1 World Cup winning team’.
While some members of the cabinet proposed a one-day official holiday to commemorate the Bangladesh U-19 World Cup victory, the Prime Minister said that more work should be done to achieve this. The Prime Minister said, ‘My suggestion is that everyone should work more than a day or an hour for this happiness’.
