World Diabetes Day celebrations in Chandpur. Today is World Diabetes Day. World Diabetes Day 2020 will be celebrated in various countries like the rest of the world.

The theme of this year’s World Diabetes Day is ‘Nurses can make a difference in diabetes services’.

From this, it is clear that the role of doctors as well as nurses is important in the diabetes services.

A road show with placards was held in Chandpur at 10 am today. It was inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Md. Abdullah Al Mahmud Zaman.

Besides, free diabetes test and medical services have been provided at Bishnupur Union office in Chandpur Sadar from 9 am to 2 am.

The number of diabetic patients in Chandpur till last October is 61 thousand. About 40,000 regular medical services are being provided from Chandpur Diabetes Hospital.

Administrative officer Iqbal Azam said that on an average 5 thousand people received treatment in a month and 200-230 people in daily basis.

Programs including free diabetes diagnosis, awareness posters, leaflet distribution, placard handouts, drawing competitions, physician-patient discussion and question and answer sessions, discounted registration, medical counseling and other tests done through all day long.

Speaking at a press conference organized by the Bangladesh Diabetic Association at Bardem Hospital on Friday on the occasion of the day president Prof. AK Azad Khan said,

Diabetes is now epidemic all over the world. This disease is lifelong.

However, if the disease can be controlled, it is possible to live a healthy normal life.
