‘If they can prove that there is an illegal Bangladeshi in India,we will take it back’ ,said Gauhar Rizvi.
Gauhar Rizvi, the Advisor to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s International Relations, also said, “If there is an illegal Bangladeshi citizen in India, we will take it back. But the Indian government has to prove it. ”
Rizvi made the remarks during a ceremony on the occasion of Victory Day at the Bangladesh Deputy High Commission premises in Kolkata, on Tuesday.
India has already said, It is an internal matter of national citizenship. But there are still fears. Last week, there were protests across India over the revised Citizenship Act. Somewhere it takes its form of violence. Bangladesh Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen canceled the visit to India.
About it Rizvi said, “National Citizenship Registration (NRC) is an internal matter in India. We have nothing to say about it. But I would say that our relations with India are very good. There is no reason to worry that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also assured us. I think it will have no effect in Bangladesh. Many people say there are many illegal Bangladeshi . There are some illegal Bangladeshi names in their list. ”
He further said, “Our policy is clear, if any Bangladeshi citizen lives in India illegally, we will take him back.” But the Indian government has to prove that they are citizens of our country.
He said the NRC or the citizenship amendment law would not have any effect on the two countries. Rizvi said, “India-Bangladesh relations will not change in the wake of any such incident. Indian soldiers have liberated Bangladesh by joining hands with the freedom fighters of Bangladesh. The Indian Army gave their blood. There have been very few instances in the world where the army of a foreign country gave blood for the freedom of another country. ”
