Chandpur Boro station mallhead is now “Bangabandhu Park”. The Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Trust has approved the naming of the tourist spot Molhead at the mouth of three rivers in Chandpur as ‘Bangabandhu Park’.
Chandpur Deputy Commissioner Anjana Khan Majlish confirmed the information on Thursday, December 02.
She said the matter was confirmed in a letter signed by the trust’s chief executive officer Mashura Hossain.
According to sources, on June 09, Deputy Commissioner Anjana Khan applied for renaming the tourist spot Molhead as ‘Bangabandhu Park’.
In response to the request, the Board of Trustees of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial decided on October 27 to allow the tourist spot to be renamed as “Bangabandhu Park”.
In this regard, Deputy Commissioner Anjana Khan Majlish said, “After joining Chandpur, I proposed the name this place ‘Bangabandhu Park’ on behalf of the district administration. Since the approval of the ‘Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Trust’ is required for the construction of a structure in the name of Bangabandhu or any member of his family, the name has been in the proposal for so long. Now it will be implemented.”
