Ethiopia’s PM demands ‘complete control’ of Tigray capital. Ethiopia’s northern Tigris government has launched a deadly operation in the state capital, Macelle. Ethiopian Prime Minister Abi Ahmed has claimed that the army is “in full control” in Meckelle, the capital of the Tigers.
In a tweet, Prime Minister Abi said the federal government now has full control of the town of Meckelle. I am happy to announce that we have ended and stopped military operations in the Tigris region.
“We are now doing the important work of post-war reconstruction,” he added. Those who fled must be brought back.
The TPLF leader told Reuters it would continue to fight for our rights and fight the invaders to the end.
Earlier, the local ruling party said that the country’s army was launching an operation in the capital with heavy weapons and ammunition.
Abi announced an operation against the TPLF on November 4, accusing it of attacking the northern military headquarters in McKelley. For several weeks now, the Ethiopian military has been conducting operations against the People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) in Tigris. Government forces say they will be able to liberate the city from the TPLF by keeping 5 lakh residents safe.
Government forces have already recovered several towns in the state. Koyesh’s people have been killed in clashes between the two sides. Hundreds of thousands of people have lost their homes and become refugees.
Meanwhile, it has become very difficult to know the details of the war. Because all kinds of communication system including phone, mobile, internet connection is closed in Tigre.
In a separate statement, the TPLF called on the international community to condemn the shelling, plane attacks and genocide.
