Three cases have been registered in connection with a police-mob clash in Chandpur’s Hajiganj Upazila on Wednesday, October 13 at night.
Two thousand people have been accused in these cases. Police filed two cases in connection with the attack on Hajiganj police station.
Besides, a case has been filed in connection with the attack on Mukandasar village of Rajargaon union. On Friday, October 15 in the afternoon Additional Superintendent of Police (Hajiganj-Faridganj Circle) Sohail Mahmood confirmed the information.
He said a total of 12 puja pandals were vandalized in Hajiganj Upazila. Police have filed two cases and the temple authorities sued a case for demolishing the temple. So far seven people have been arrested.
Meanwhile, a five-member committee headed by an additional deputy commissioner has been formed. The committee has been asked to report within seven days.
Hajiganj Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Harunur Rashid said the accused were being identified by looking at various CCTV footage. No one will be wrongfully detained.
