Today is the Holy Eid-ul-Azha.The holy Eid-ul-Azha, glorified in the ideals of sacrifice and devotion, is today Saturday. Eid-ul-Azha, the glorious holy day of sacrifice, has returned year after year with a happy message for the Muslim world. This is one of the major religious festivals of Muslims in Bengali society also known as ‘Eid of Sacrifice’.
On this day, the devout Muslims of the country will be inspired by the glory of sacrifice and will offer animal sacrifices at the end of Eid prayers to please Allah Almighty.
This time Eid has come in a different context. Countless people from different parts of the country were devastated by the Corona epidemic.
Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of Muslims, came a couple of months ago amid the coronavirus epidemic that terrified and stunned the world. Even though the house arrest phase of the virus panic has passed, many people are still being infected every day. The Corona epidemic, which began last March, has claimed more than 3,000 lives. It has robbed millions of people of their livelihood. People who have lost their livelihood have left the city and gone to the villages.
Yet the pace of life does not stop at any obstacle. No matter the disaster, it is called Eid! After all, people will greet each other on this day.
Sacrificial meat will be distributed, food and drink will be given as much as possible.
According to the Holy Qur’an, four thousand years ago, at the command of Allah, Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) took the initiative to sacrifice his most beloved object, his son Hazrat Ismail (AS). But by the power of Allah, a lamb was sacrificed instead of Hazrat Ishmael (AS). Every year Muslims offer sacrifices in remembrance of this sacrificial attitude of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS).
Although the holy Eid-ul-Azha is celebrated on the 10th day of the month of Jilhaj, animal sacrifices can be offered on any day on the 10th, 11th and 12th. Sacrifices can be made on Sundays and Mondays as well.
