Khaleda Zia is going to be released.The government has decided to release BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on two terms. The government has taken this decision in view of the humanitarian aspects of the situation caused by the coronavirus. The recommendation has been sent from the Law Ministry to the Home Ministry.
Law Minister Anisul Haque made the announcement at an emergency press conference on Tuesday (March 24th). He said that the government has decided to release Khaleda Zia from her home and she cannot go abroad. The proposal has been sent to the Home Ministry.
The minister said Khaleda’s sentence was suspended for six months considering her age. However, she could not go abroad for medical treatment. She will have to get treatment only if the Home Ministry approves.
