Four drug dealers have been arrested including 198 bottles of Phensedyl at Matlab South of Chandpur.
The detainees are Jihad (16), father Mamun Mia, Md. Mishu (22), father Siraj Mia, Shahjalal (25), father Shahjahan Mia, and Sagar Chandra Sarkar (29), father Nantu Chandra Sarkar.
Police arrested them from the Mubarakdi area of Matlab municipality around 11:30 am on Tuesday and brought them to the police station.
According to police and local sources, on Tuesday morning, 4 youths came to Bardia Arang Bazaar carrying 4 school bags with CNG on their shoulders. From there, an auto bike was going to the boat wharf in the Mubarakdi-Bishnupur border area.
When the auto bike driver suspects that something went wrong, he informed the matter to local councilor and the panel mayor of the municipality Mamun Chowdhury Bulbul through his mobile phone.
After informing the Matlab South Police Station, SI Rafiqul Islam detained 4 persons from the spot along with 198 bottles of Phensedyl and brought them to the police station.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Matlab Circle Yasser Arafat said the detainees had an organized circle.
Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Mohiuddin Mia said a case has been filed against the detainees under the Matlab South Police Narcotics Control Act.
