Chandpur is getting 12 .17 lakh copies of books for Primary School

A demand for 12 lakh 17 thousand 247 copies of books has been sent to the Primary and Mass Education Department for the distribution of free textbooks among students from pre-primary to fifth grade in Chandpur district for the 2026 academic year.

According to the Chandpur District Primary Education Office, there are a total of 1,156 government primary schools in the district and the number of students in these schools is about 2 lakh 58 thousand 34. In addition, about 75 thousand students study in 555 kindergartens in the district.

Demand for books by upazila

The demand letter sent shows the demand for books in various upazilas for the 2026 academic year as follows – Chandpur Sadar: 2 lakh 42 thousand 700 copies; Hajiganj: 1 lakh 51 thousand 482 copies; Shahrasti: 1 lakh 23 thousand 900 copies; Matlab North: 1 lakh 67 thousand 442 copies; Matlab South: 1 lakh 69 thousand 272 copies; Faridganj: 1 lakh 85 thousand 523 copies; Haimchar: 51 thousand 120 copies and Kachua: 1 lakh 76 thousand 940 copies.

The Senior High Assistant of the District Primary Education Office said that all the required books will reach Chandpur by December and they will be delivered to every primary school in the district through the Upazila Education Office. Preparations for the annual examination are also being made as per the departmental instructions. If the government order is received, the book distribution program will start simultaneously in Chandpur like the rest of the country on January 1, 2026.

The Cabinet Advisory Committee on Government Procurement has approved an expenditure of Tk 201 crore for printing, binding and supplying new books for primary level students in the 2026 academic year. The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has said that 4 crore 4 lakh 42 thousand 491 copies of textbooks will be printed for first, second and third grade students under this project.
