Prime Minister handed over the Ekushey Padak to the virtuous.Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has awarded ‘Ekushey Padak-2020’ to 20 prominent citizens and an organization in recognition of their significant contribution in various fields.
She handed over the medal to the country’s second highest private honoree at a function organized by the Ministry of Culture at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Thursday.
This time, those who received Ekushey Padak:
Aminul Islam Badshah (posthumous) in the language movement, Begum Dalia Noushin, Shankar Roy and Mita Haque, art (dances) in art. Golam Mostafa Khan, MM Mohsin in art (acting), professor artist in arts (fine arts). Farida Zaman, Haji Akter Sardar (posthumous) in the war of liberation, Abdul Jabbar (posthumous), Dr. AAM Mesbahul Haque (posthumous), Jafar Wazed (Ali Wazed Jafar) in journalism, Dr. Jahangir Alam, Hafez Qari Allama Syed Mohammad Saifur Rahman Nizami Shah, Shia Professor. Radiation Prasad Barua, Professor of Economics. Shamsul Alam, Sufi Mohammad Mizanur Rahman in Social Services, Dr. in Language and Literature. Nurun Nabi, Sikder Aminul Haque (posthumous) and Begum Nazmun Nessa Peary and Professor in Medicine. Saiba Akhtar.
In addition, Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute received the Ekushey padak in ‘Research’.
This award has been given to the government in recognition of the special contribution made in different fields every year to commemorate the martyrs of the language movement. Each of the awardees is given a gold medal weighing 35 grams, prize money and an honorary certificate.
It is to be noted that on February 5, the Ministry of Culture announced the names of 20 persons and one institution as the winner of the Ekushey Padak of 2020.
