In the evening, the Prime Minister will attend the South Asia Virtual Conference.Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will attend a virtual conference on April 23 to discuss the economic impact of the coronavirus outbreak on South Asia and to strengthen regional cooperation to overcome it.
Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said the Prime Minister would attend the virtual conference on Thursday evening from her official residence Ganobhaban. The conference will focus on “Enhancing Regional Co-operation to address the impact of COVID-19 on the economy of the South Asian region.”
The Press Secretary said the Prime Minister would deliver her inaugural address at the conference on ‘Building Regional Tolerance to Tackle Bangladesh-Covid-19’.
The conference will begin at 7:00 pm with a welcome address by Burj Brand, President of the World Economic Forum (WEF).
World Health Organization Southeast Asia Regional Director. Poonam Kshetrapal Singh will then give a special briefing on the Kovid-19 situation and the steps to be taken to address the crisis arising out of the epidemic.
Arnold Berniert, head of the WEF’s Health and Healthcare Future Building Program, will highlight important aspects of the coronavirus situation from the forum’s healthcare community.
Finally, the moderator will open the floor for discussion and members of the South Asia Regional Action Group will ask participants to give their views.
The conference will conclude with a summary of important issues and the next steps taken by the WEF.
