Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to Japan postponed.Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said, ‘Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to Japan has been postponed due to the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus (COVID-19).’
He said this on Tuesday after the meeting of the International Sub-Committee in celebration of Mujib.
The two-day bilateral visit was scheduled to be held in Japan on March 30.
Stating that the visit was postponed, the Foreign Minister said the Prime Minister was scheduled to visit Japan. But since the coronavirus has spread widely in Japan, the visit has been postponed.
“We will make the decision to visit Japan later,” he said. They also have no objection.
Explaining the postponement of the visit, Foreign Minister Momen said, wherever we go, when a Prime Minister goes, a big business representative goes, our trade and commerce increases. They (Japan) have said that such a large gathering may not be possible in the way that a large delegation meets many people.
The national parade square was supposed to be the main occasion of the inauguration of Mujib Year on March 17 birthday of Bangabandhu. President Md. Along with Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, foreign guests were also expected to attend the event.
Note that for the first time, coronavirus has been detected in Bangladesh. On Sunday, Mirzadi Sabrina, director of the government’s pathology, disease control and research institute (IEDCR), said two coronary patients had been arrested. Of the three, two are men and one woman. The government and health departments have been advised to be careful not to panic about Corona. Because of this, the ceremonies of Mujib Year have also been reduced.
