Mother and newborn injured in Roof collapse at Chandpur Government General Hospital.The roof of the children’s ward of the 250-bed government general hospital in Chandpur collapsed and the newborn was seriously injured.
The accident took place on Thursday evening, March 31, at the children’s KMC corner on the third floor of the hospital. The mother and the newborn were saved for a while.
The injured were identified as Taskia, 27, wife of Rayes Sardar of Farakkabad village in Balia union of Chandpur Sadar upazila. The newborn was also injured in that incident.
According to the hospital’s children’s ward, Taskia was admitted to Chandpur Government Hospital on March 29 with labor pains.
After the newborn was born, they were kept separately in the KMC corner of the children’s ward.
Suddenly in the evening the roof of one side of the ward collapsed and the mother and the newborn were injured.
Injured Taskia sustained serious head injuries. However, no one else was injured as there were no other patients in the KMC corner. The mother and the newborn are safe, said the on-duty nurses.
