3 people, including a child, drowned when a trawler sank in the Kanthalia river in Cumilla’s Meghna Upazila. Another is missing.
The incident took place on Monday, January 3 at around 1.45 pm. The names of the dead were not known immediately.
Meghna police sub-inspector (SI) Ujjwal confirmed the matter.
He said the incident took place when a passenger trawler was on its way from Hasnabad in Daudkandi Upazila to Darigaon village in Titas Upazila. There were 14 passengers in the trawler.
