Uncertainty Into Students About Admission To College Of Choice

Uncertainty about admission to the college of choice. The online admission program for class XI in the 2020-21 academic year is starting today. There has been joy as well as anxiety among the students and parents about the admission. Although there are maximum 50 to 60 thousand seats in good quality colleges across the country, this time one lakh and 35 thousand 898 students got GPA-5.

Despite getting good results for this, there has been uncertainty among many about getting admission in the best college. Many people cannot get admission in the college of their choice even after applying more than once. And most of them are science students.

In the last few years, there are 75 quality institutions in Dhaka division, 32 in Rangpur division, 14 in Barisal division, seven in Rajshahi division, 19 in Chittagong division, 13 in Khulna division and 23 in Sylhet division. If the students who got GPA-5 in their respective departments crowd in these colleges, not everyone will have resources. Apart from this, students from two other education boards outside the 9 general education boards in the area concerned will apply for admission.

The Board of Education says, this time 16 lakh and 90 thousand have passed. There are more than 25 lakh seats. There will be no problem with the seats. There are about one and a half times more seats than the number of students who have passed this time. So admission will not be a problem.

This time the pass rate in the general nine boards is 83.75 percent and one lakh 23 thousand and 497 students got GPA-5. Seven thousand and 516 students got GPA-5 in Madrasa Education Board and four thousand and 85 students got GPA-5 in Technical Education Board. A large portion of the Madrasa and Technical Boards are admitted to the Higher Secondary under the General Board. As a result, more than five thousand applications can be read in the colleges outside the 9 general boards. As a result, more than 80,000 students will not get admission in the first tier colleges even if they get GPA-5.

In the capital Dhaka, there are about 50,000 seats for higher secondary education. Of these, 20-22 good quality colleges have more than 25,000 seats. On the other hand, Dhaka Board has passed about three and a half lakh this time. Of these, 36,047 got GPA-5. Again, one lakh and 33 thousand 355 people got GPA-4 to 5.

As such, there are doubts about the chances of students from outside Dhaka being admitted to institutions in the capital. As a result, after good results, there will be many more challenges for the students who come to study in the capital. There are similar challenges for students who have passed from the Madrasa Board. Although there are enough seats for admission of all students, not everyone will get admission in the first tier institutions.

Parents of several students said they were worried about getting admission in a good college. If there is any complication related to admission, the Board of Education has to take the risk of life. Failure to get admission in the college of choice has broken the minds of many. They also said that as the number of good colleges and the number of seats is less, there is uncertainty about the admission in the college of choice.

When asked, Professor Harun Aur Rashid, college inspector of the Inter-Education Board, said, “It is true that not everyone can get admission in the college of their choice.” However, there are more seats than the number of students who have passed. There will be some dropouts. Some will go abroad. In all, there will not be two and a half lakhs.

He said it is not only the city-oriented institutions that will be the best. There are opportunities to do better in the village too. In this case, the supervision of teachers and the attention of students is very important. We are working to ensure that.

He also said that they are working on how the students can resolve any errors in the application online.

Meanwhile, academics have given importance to improving the quality of institutions in and outside the district. According to Professor Ekramul Kabir, a member of the Education Policy-2010 Formulation Committee, many students do not get the opportunity to get admission in the institution of their choice even after applying in a few steps. In this case, it is necessary to have the opportunity to transfer the teachers of good institutions conveniently, this will increase the quality of those institutions, students will be interested to go there.
