‘4150 posts of teachers in public universities vacant’

4,150 posts of teachers in public universities were vacant. There are 4,150 vacancies in 46 public universities of the country, said the Minister of Education. Dipu Moni.

According to the information given by the Minister, there are 1 lakh 93 thousand 358 male students and 1 lakh 4 thousand 599 female students in 57 public and private universities of the country. There are 15 thousand 293 teachers.

But of these, 4,150 teaching posts are vacant in 46 public universities.

The minister made the remarks in response to a question raised by Chattogram-4 MP Didarul Alam at a question and answer session in Parliament on Monday, November 15.

Replying to another question from Morshed Alam, Member of Parliament for Noakhali-2 constituency, the Education Minister said that a project titled ‘Development of Bangladesh Land Survey Education’ is being implemented in four districts of the country through the Department of Technical Education.

Of these, two survey institutes are being expanded and developed. The two existing institutes are Bangladesh Survey Institute at Rammala in Cumilla and Rajshahi Engineering and Survey Institute. Two new land survey educational institutions are being set up. One of them is Patuakhali Land Survey Institute at Dashmina in Patuakhali and the other is Jessore Land Survey Institute at Monirampur in Jessore.
