Today is the historic six-point movement day.June 07 is a historic six-point day. In the history of the liberation struggle of the Bengali nation, it is a day of glorious struggle in the sacrifice of a unique protester. On June 07,1966 a nationwide mass movement was started in support of the six-point demand for the Charter of Liberation of the Bengali Nation declared by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. That is why the historical six points are called the certificate of liberation of the Bengali nation.
This day brought the freedom movement of Bengal to a new level. And in the continuation of this six-point movement, the freedom movement of Bengalis took shape in the freedom struggle. The six-point movement was followed by the Agartala conspiracy case, the 11-point movement, the mass uprising of ’69, the election of ’70, the great liberation war of 1971 and the emergence of independent sovereign Bangladesh on the latest world map.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman raised six points at the conference held in Lahore, Pakistan on February 05,1966 on the Tashkent Agreement. He requested the concerned parties to take necessary steps to ensure that it is included in the agenda of the conference the next day. But the organizers did not pay attention to Bangabandhu’s demand in this conference. They rejected this claim. In protest, Bangabandhu did not attend the conference but raised six points during his stay in Lahore. On that day, the then military ruler of Pakistan, General Ayub Khan, announced a six-point confrontation in the language of arms.
Inspired by the spirit of the historic 6-point movement, it is necessary to devote ourselves collectively to the task of building the country. The 6-point movement will inspire us to strengthen and institutionalize our ongoing democratic system and inspire us to build a prosperous Bangladesh free from hunger and poverty. The historic 6 points of 1966 is one of the milestones in the history of Bangladesh’s freedom struggle. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the proponent of this historic 6 points. There was deep respect for the father of the nation for his contribution to the freedom struggle. The history of our freedom struggle is the history of movement and abandonment.
Inspired by the spirit of all democratic movements and struggles including the historic June 07, the present government is determined to preserve the democratic rights of the people of the country. By building Vision 2021 and Vision 2041, it is possible to make Bangladesh a modern and non-communal digital Bangladesh free from hunger, poverty, terrorism and corruption. June 07 is an unforgettable day in the history of the Bengali nation’s freedom struggle.
