On Tuesday, June 22, the windows of Al Arafah Islami Bank agent branch in Belancho Bazar of Hajiganj Upazila were smashed and 5 lakh 27 thousand 388 taka were stolen from the vault. Authorities said the action or crime of stealing took place late Tuesday night.
Mizanur Rahman, branch manager of Al Arafah Islami Bank’s agent branch, said At that time three people, including operator manager Ismail Hossain, were in charge. The theft happened before I took charge. The matter has been informed to the head office.
Afzal Hossain, an agent of the agent branch of Belancho Al Arafah Islami Bank, said that the agent banking activities started two months ago. No CCTV cameras were installed here. A case is being prepared at Hajiganj police station.
