Five members of a family were hacked to death by rivals in Ruma upazila of Bandarban district early Friday.
Deceased Abu Parar Pradhan Langrui Mroo, 65, his sons – Rangthui Mroo, 42, Lengrung Mroo, 38, Menwai Mroo, 29, and Ringrao Mroo, 26 – were residents of Abu Para in the upazila.
Police and locals said Langrui Mroo family had a dispute with locals over deforestation for Jhum cultivation.
As a sequel, the rivals along with locally made arms attacked his family early today, leaving him and his elder son dead on the spot, and the rest three injured.
The injured, later, died on the way to hospital.
Ruma Police Station officer in-charge Md Abdul Kashem confirmed the incident.
