BRAC’s Corona Test Booth Will Remain Open Till December 31

BRAC’s Corona test booth will remain open till December 31.The corona virus (Covid-19) sample testing booth operated by the donor agency BRAC is not being closed. Their sample test booths will remain open until next December.

According to recent media reports, BRAC has written to the Department of Health stating that 38 of their corona test booths will be closed after August 31. BRAC explained about this news.

A press release signed by Mahbubul Alam Kabir, senior media manager of BRAC, said that in the wake of a letter written to the health department, it was reported in the newspaper on August 08 that the sample booths of 38 corona tests conducted by BRAC in the capital were being closed. For the past six months, BRAC has been operating 97 booths across the country to assist the Department of Health in testing samples in areas at risk of contracting the virus. These booths are being operated with BRAC’s own funding. But due to the funding crisis, BRAC had informed the Director General of the Department of Health in writing before Eid that it would not be possible to run 40 booths in the capital after August 31.

At the same time, BRAC was in contact with its donors and partners to raise funds, the press release said. Most recently, BRAC received a fund from the Global Fund that will help the company maintain its booths in the capital until December 31. The changed situation is to be reported to the Department of Health today (August 10) in another letter.
