Finance Minister’s meeting to bring three banks into stock market.Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has been meeting as part of an initiative to bring three state-owned banks into the stock market. The meeting began at 11 am on Sunday (February 09) at the Ministry of Finance.
The stock market has been facing a steady decline recently. The government has taken several steps to control the overall market situation and regain confidence in the long run. As part of this, an initiative has been taken to sell shares of three state-owned banks. These three commercial banks are Sonali, Janata and Agrani Bank.
The meeting was chaired by the Finance Minister, Fazle Kabir, Governor of Bangladesh Bank, Asadul Islam, Senior Secretary of the Financial Institutions Department, Prof. M. Khairul Hossain, Chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission, Abdur Rauf Talukder, Finance Secretary, Managing Director and Chairman of the Bank.
Trusted sources said the meeting will discuss how the three bank shares can be brought and how many shares can be paid off. Apart from this, there will be a discussion on whether the shares of the silver bank listed in the stock exchange go further. At the same time the opinion of experts including partners will be taken. Based on their opinion, the next decision will be taken.
Finance Ministry sources said that the financial condition of the banks is currently under analysis. After deciding on the latest issues including the financial statements of the banks, it will be decided to withdraw the shares.
