The Chandpur Bus Stand Municipal Market building is in danger of collapsing at any moment.Many cracks have appeared in different places of the municipal market building of old Bus stand in Chandpur city. So this building is in a very risky way now. And inside this risky building, the activities of different business organizations are being conducted regularly every day.
It is known that this building has been built here since the Pakistan period. Whose age is about a hundred years on the verge. The building has not been renovated since then. That is why this building has expired day by day.It is known that when a building expires, it becomes risky.
However, despite the non-validity of this municipal market building in charge of Chandpur municipality, the market activities are being conducted in the risky building.
It has been seen on the spot that the building on the south side of the old bus stand in Chandpur city is an old building of the antiquated period and it is in a very dilapidated condition. Several pillars on the outside of the building and the lining of the beams have collapsed.
In addition, huge lining of the ceiling in various places, the lining and paved castings have fallen off and most of the rods can be seen. In many cases small and big cracks have also been seen. Therefore, there is a risk of a major accident if the building collapses at any moment. Due to the dilapidated condition of the market building, various traders and people from different organizations are spending their days in insecurity in this market.
Talking to several eminent engineers of Chandpur in this regard, they saw the real picture of the building and said that the condition of the building, it is definitely a risky building. Rods can be seen falling from various pillars, beams and ceilings of the building. This could lead to the building collapsing at any time and causing a major accident. Looking at the actual picture of the building, there is no denying how risky it is.
There are several stationery, food hotels, residential, hotels, offices in this market. The people of these organizations are reviewing their activities there every day. Therefore, the conscious people of Chandpur feel the need to demolish this municipal market building and build a new one in a very short time. Otherwise, like the most appalling Rana Plaza in Bangladesh, there is a risk of an accident if it collapses at any time.
Talking to AHM Shamsuddoha, Executive Engineer, Chandpur Municipality, said, “We also know that the building in this market is risky. That’s why we sent a proposal three years ago through the UNCD Affair Project to demolish this building and build a new market building here.”
In addition to this, in order to generate revenue, proposals have been sent to construct a total of three market buildings, including two at Biponibagh Bazar in Chandpur city and one at the bus stand. And as soon as the proposal is passed, this old building will be demolished and a new 10-storey building will be constructed.
