Chandpur Forest Department has set a target of distributing one lakh saplings this season. A target has been set to distribute tree saplings of Tk. 1 lakh in all upazilas of Chandpur district in the current season of 2020-21 to protect the natural environment, maintain natural balance and maintain shady environment in all the upazilas of Chandpur district.
Of these, a total of 25,000 for the Hon’ble Members of Parliament in 5 constituencies of Chandpur district and a total of 75,000 different types of fruit and medicinal fruit trees and medicinal plants have been prepared for open sale.
Md. Tajul Islam, acting forest conservator of Chandpur district, said, “75,000 saplings have been kept ready for sale in all upazilas as per government guidelines and distribution is available during the current monsoon season.” We have not yet received the list of 25,000 saplings preserved by the Hon’ble Members of Parliament. The list is that we will actually distribute those saplings.”
He further said, ‘The target has been set to create 10 km of new gardens in Shahrashti upazila of Chandpur district. Its activities will start from June 20. The forest department of Shahrashti upazila will implement the project.’
