Clash-shooting with police, fisherman killed in Chandpur

Fisherman named Masud (22) died while undergoing treatment after a clash and shooting with fishermen on the Meghna River in Matlab North Upazila of Chandpur.

The clash took place on Monday, March 15 at night. Later, Masud died at Dhaka Medical College (DMC) Hospital around 4:30 am on Tuesday, March 16.

He is a resident of Kalirchar area of ​​Munshiganj.

Chandpur area police superintendent of naval police Kamruzzaman said, “A team led by Inspector Abul Hossain Sarkar, the officer-in-charge of the Mohanpur Naval Police Outpost in Matlab North, was patrolling the Meghna River on Monday, MArch 15 at night.

At that time some fishermen were killing Jatka in the river. When the members of the naval police patrol team went to arrest the fishermen, the fishermen attacked the police with sticks, oar and pieces of bricks.

A fisherman named Masud was injured when police opened fire in self-defense. After rescuing him, he was first taken to Matlab North Upazila Health Complex. He was later taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where he died on Tuesday, March 16 in the morning.”
