11 passengers were killed in collision of bus-train

11 people have been killed in a bus-train collision at Puranapail railway gate in Joypurhat. Since the accident, train services to the north and across the country have been suspended.On Saturday,December 19,the accident took place at 6 am. Seven people injured in the accident have been taken to the modern district hospital.

Khorshed Alam Saikat, chairman of Puranapail Union Parishad (UP), claimed that the rail gate was open at the time of the accident and the gateman of Puranapail Rail Crossing was sleeping.

Joypurhat District Superintendent of Police Salam Kabir, who was present at the spot, said the Rajshahi-bound train from Parbatipur collided with a Hiligami bus from Joypurhat town to Dinajpur while crossing the rail crossing on Saturday morning.

According to the police, the bus was crushed by the engine of the train. The train derailed after six wheels. As a result, the northern rail communication with the rest of the country has been cut off.
