Taposh Atiqul wins Dhaka City Corporation election

Barrister Taposh is the DSCC and Atiqul is the DNCC mayoral candidates backed by Awami League

Dhaka City Corporation election Awami League backed candidates Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and Atiqul Islam have met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The duo went to meet the prime minister at her Ganabhaban residence on Saturday evening.

Two mayoral candidates of the ruling Awami League are leading in both Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) elections.

The Dhaka South and Dhaka North city corporations’ elections ended at 4pm on Saturday which began at 8am.

A total of 13 mayoral candidates are vying in the two Dhaka north and south city corporations while around 7,500 candidates have contested for councillor posts in the two city corporations.

There are 1,318 polling centers in DNCC while 1,150 in DSCC.

Besides, voters in Dhaka North will also elect 54 ward councillors and 18 reserved women councillors. In Dhaka South, 73 ward councillors and 23 reserved women councillors will be elected.
