Faridganj became independence on this day in 1971

Today is Wednesday,November 25 Faridganj Free Day. On this day in 1971, Faridganj was liberated from the Pakistani forces. In the face of resistance from the freedom fighters, the Pakistani forces were forced to leave Faridganj and flee to Chandpur.

On this day, in the face of resistance of local freedom fighters and unarmed people, the invading forces attacked the freedom fighters at Bhatialpur crossroads of the upazila.

While fleeing to Chandpur, the Pakistani army retreated firing indiscriminately at the civilians.

At that time a few civilians were killed by the Pakistani army.

On the other hand, in commemoration of the freedom fighters and unarmed people who were martyred in the great liberation war in 1971, a martyr memorial pillar was erected at Faridganj Upazila Sadar in 1995 by Sector 7 Commander Lt. Colonel (Retd.) Abu Osman Chowdhury.

Every year on this day, various organizations including Upazila Administration, Muktijoddha Sangsad, Awami League and Faridganj Press Club pay homage here.

On the other hand, various political and social organizations including Upazila Administration, Upazila Muktijoddha Sangsad, Faridganj Municipality, Faridganj Press Club have organized various programs on the day.
