A child has died after being hit by a battery-powered autorickshaw in Matlab Uttar Upazila of Chandpur. The incident took place in the Mohanpur area of the Upazila around 4 pm on Sunday.
The name of the deceased child is Shahid Ahmed (5). He is the son of Sagar Mollah of the Mohanpur area.
According to police and local sources, Shahid was playing with other children in the Mohanpur tourist area near his house at 4 pm today.
As he was crossing the road at the end of the game, a battery-powered autorickshaw suddenly crushed him from behind.
His head, legs, chest, and back were crushed. When Shahid was rescued in critical condition and taken to the Upazila Health Complex, the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
Matlab Uttar Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Muhammad Shahjahan Kamal said no one had filed a case in the incident.
