Drug administration orders inspection on Napa syrup

Department of Drug Administration has instructed wholesale and retail pharmacies across the country to test the drug after two children of the same family died after consuming napa syrup in Ashuganj in Brahmanbaria.

In this case, the Department of Drug Administration has directed to collect samples of the prescribed batch (Batch No. 32113121) of Napa Syrup from all over the country. In addition, if anyone has such medicine, they should immediately inform the nearest chemist’s office and refrain from selling it.

The directive was issued in an emergency office order signed by Drug Administration spokesperson and director Ayub Hossain on Sunday.

Officers working in all the divisional and district offices of the Department of Drug Administration have been directed to inspect the wholesale and retail pharmacies located in the self-controlled areas, examine the samples and send the report to the National Control Laboratory.
