United Nations has expressed concern over the harassment and arrest of Rozina Islam, a senior reporter for Prothom Alo.
Stéphane Dujarric, a spokesman for UN Secretary-General António Guterres, expressed concern in response to a reporter’s question at a regular UN briefing on Tuesday.
“We are looking into the matter. A journalist has been arrested in Bangladesh,” Dujarric said.
“This is of course a matter of concern. Our position is clear, journalists all over the world must be allowed to work without the threat or harassment or physical attack. Of course, Bangladesh is also included in it.”
Stéphane Dujarric said, ‘Journalists around the world have done a lot of important work during the pandemic. Wherever they work, they have to be allowed to continue their work.’
