Section 144 imposed in Matlab North.The administration has issued Section 144 in seven places of Matlab north in Chandpur for apprehension of deteriorating law and order situation.
Matlab North Upazila Nirbahi Officer-UNO Snehashish Das said on Wednesday night that the order would remain from 6 am on Thursday to 12 pm on Saturday.
At that time, more than three people were requested not to move within 200 yards of the seven places identified in Matlab North Upazila.
The places are Sri raer Char, Mohanpur, Fatehpur, Ekhlachpur, Dashani, Amirabad and the area north of Matlab Bridge.
According to UNO, supporters of Chandpur-2 MP Nurul Amin Ruhul and former minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya called a rally under the banner of party and various social organizations.
Sanctions have been imposed in these seven areas for fear of deteriorating law and order situation.
Chandpur Superintendent of Police Mahbubur Rahman said there was a risk of chaos and violence as two political leaders convened a meeting at the same place at the same time. In order to keep the law and order situation normal, Section 144 was issued in seven places in the Matlab north.
