Vitamin A capsules will be fed to nearly 2 crore 10 lakhs children simultaneously on Saturday, January 11th. However, vitamin A capsule campaign will be celebrated on January 25 in all the upazilas and city corporation areas of Gazipur district due to the Bisshaw Ijtema.
Health Minister Zahid Malek said this at a news conference organized on Thursday at the National Vitamin A Campaign at the Health Department’s Auditorium. He told parents that they should take the children to the health center on time with a full stomach.
The Health Minister said that children aged between 6 and 11 months will be given a blue color and children aged 12 to 59 months will be fed a red vitamin A capsule.
The Health Minister said that the program will be observed in various places of the country from 8am to 5pm. About 2 crore 10 lakhs children from 6 months to 5 years of age will be fed vitamin A capsules.
He further said that the program will be operated through the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, various government and non-governmental organizations, religious institutions, students, teachers and journalists, with an additional 1 lakh 20 thousand permanent centers across the country, and an additional 20,000 temporary and travel centers.
Vitamin A will be fed to children at various stations of Railway Station, Bus Station, Launchghat, Ferighat, Bangabandhu Bridge, Daudkandi and Meghna Bridge.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health has said that it is completely safe to be fed vitamins. Parents are being urged to eat vitamin ‘A’ capsules for children from 6 months to 11 months without hearing any rumors. Infants aged 6 to 11 months will eat blue capsules and children aged 12 to 59 months will eat red capsules.
Vitamin A is one of the most important nutrients for the baby’s healthy survival, normal growth and vision strength. It builds immunity against various diseases.
