Today Is Nuclear Scientist Wajed Mia’s Birthday

Today is Nuclear scientist Wajed Mia’s birthday. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s husband and patriotic nuclear scientist late Dr. MA Wazed Mia’s 70th birthday today. He was born on February 16, 1942 in the Mia family of village Fatehpur in Laldighi in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur.

Wazed Mia was the youngest son.His father Abdul Quader Mia and mother Maizunessa’s four sons and three daughters.

He was second in the first class in Physics Science (Honors) examination in 1961 from Dhaka University and in the first class in the post-graduate examination in 1962.
Dr. Wazed attended many national, regional and international science conferences. Many of his research and science articles have been published in national and international journals and periodicals. His books and essays are being taught in various universities of the country and abroad.

Dr. MA Wazed Mia was chairman of the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission. She was married to Sheikh Hasina, eldest daughter of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Bangabandhu on 17 November,1967. They have one son Sajib Wazed Joy and one daughter Saima Wazed Hossain Putul.
The scientist with a colorful working life passed away on May 9th,2009. After the death of Wazed Mia, he was buried beside his parents’ grave in Fatehpur village of Pirganj upazila.

Dr. On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Dr. Wazed Mia. Various programs have been taken by Wazed Smriti Parliament and local Awami League and allied organizations for Fateha recitation, prayer ceremony and distribution of food among the poor.
