Ferry service to Chandpur-Shariatpur stopped due to thick fog. Due to heavy fog, the ferry service on the Chandpur-Shariatpur route has been suspended again. Hundreds of vehicles including passenger buses, private cars, microbuses and freight trucks are stranded on the banks of the river.
The ferry service was suspended at 10 pm on Tuesday, December 8, to avoid a boat accident due to heavy fog in the Meghna.
Earlier, the ferry service was suspended from 9 pm on Monday. However, the ferry service resumed at 11 am on Tuesday. But at the end of the day at 10 pm the fog increased and the ferry service was stopped again to avoid accidents on the waterway.
The drivers and passengers of the vehicles are suffering due to the closure of the ferry.
Faisal Ahmed, manager of BIWTC Chandpur Harina Ghat, said the ferry service was suspended at 10 pm due to heavy fog in the river. When the fog density decreases, ferry traffic will resume.
