Biman Bangladesh Airlines is adding two brand new Dash

Biman Bangladesh Airlines is adding two brand new Dash 8-400 models to its fleet.

De Haviland, a leading Canadian aircraft manufacturer, will deliver two 74-seat aircraft to the country in February.

Deputy General Manager of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Tahera Khandaker confirmed the matter. He said a brand new Dash 8-400 model aircraft would arrive in the two countries by the end of February.

According to the relevant sources, three Dash 8-400 aircraft have been procured between the governments of Bangladesh and Canada on a G-to-G basis. The first of these was added to the fleet last December. On December 27, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the new aircraft named Dhrubatara.

The other two plane will arrive in the country by the end of February. This new model plane is being imported keeping in mind to operate short distance flights inside and outside the country. With the addition of this new plane, flights will be operated on domestic routes as well as short-haul destinations outside the country.

Built by renowned Canadian aircraft manufacturer De Haviland, the 74-seater Dash 8-400 aircraft is environmental friendly and has state-of-the-art facilities.

The total number of aircraft in the fleet at present is 19. Of these, four are Boeing 777-300ER, four are Boeing 787-8, two are Boeing 787-9, six are Boeing 737 and three are Dash 8-400 aircraft. If two new ones are added, the number of planes will stand at 21.
