Haimhchair Upazila Parishad Election on Monday.As part of the Fifth Upazila Parishad elections, voting will be held in the first EVM system on Monday 13 th January in Haimachar Upazila. Voting will be held from 9 am to 5 pm. In the elections, there are 3 chairman candidates, 8 vice-chairmen and 2 female vice-chairman candidates competing.
The voter turnout in the 6 unions of the upazila is 80,234. The male voters are 41,417 and the female voters 38,817. Voting will be held in EVM system in 200 rooms of 31 polling stations.
On the occasion of the election, general holiday has been announced . The official publicity for these upazilas ended at midnight on Saturday. Voting materials will be sent to each polling center on Sunday. Traffic restrictions have been imposed.
BGB, RAB, police and Ansar members have started patrolling the area in security. Chandpur District Election Officer Helal Uddin said , ‘On the day of voting 3 platoon BGB, 2 platoon Coast Guard, enough RAB, police and Ansar members will be deployed in security. We have made all preparations for free and fair elections’.
Talking to various age-old voters in the area, they said, ‘We have been deprived of voting rights for a long time.Anyway since we have the right to exercise voting rights, we will think about it’.
Voter’s are said , ‘Most of the upazila parishad elections in the country had taken away the voting rights of ordinary people by using muscle power. We will not endorse any muscle power users. We do not want muscle power’.
Mohammad Ripon Hossain, Haihmchar Upazila Election Officer said, “Since the EVM system is new to the voters, we have trained all those who have served as presiding, assistant, presiding and polling since the beginning of the month. Voting will take place on January 11 at the center of the upazila. For this purpose, campaigning and micking has been done in the upazila. Any voter will come and learn the voting procedure at EVMs on that day. ”
While many hold that a fair and impartial election is held, the boat, paddy grain and pineapple will be selected as symbol.
