Bus-Truck collision at Kachua, killed 2

Two people were killed in a collision between a BRTC bus and a truck at Chandpur’s Kachua Upazila.

The deceased were identified as Sajeeb Hossain(20), son of Selim Miah of Budhunda village, and Atiq(15), son of Anwar Hossain of Sachar Gopirdighi village.

The accident took place at Shimultali on the Kachua-Gauripur-Sachar road around 11 am on Monday.

Truck driver Mehedi Hasan said when the truck reached the Shimultali area on its way from Sachar to Teguria at around 11 pm. A Dhaka to Laxmipur bound BRCT bus pushed the truck from behind while trying to overtake the truck.

Sajib and Atiq were killed when the truck fell into a nearby pond and driver Mehedi Hasan and owner Ful Mia were seriously injured.

The locals rushed to the spot and rescued the dead and injured and sent them to the hospital.

Meanwhile, mourning is going on in the house of the deceased. And the locals have demanded to speed up the Kachua-Sachar-Gauripur road to four lanes.

Sachar UP Chairman Monir Hossain said the Kachua-Gauripur-Sachar road is very risky. This road is not fit to run the buses like BRTC. We are demanding the construction of four-lane roads.

Kachua police OC Mohiuddin confirmed the incident, saying the dead had been rescued and the bus driver could not be apprehended.
