The sandbags are finally being dumped at the Tilabari area of the launch ghat on Madrasa Road of the Chandpur City protection Project.
The Bangladesh Water Development Board authorities started this work from Monday morning today. As a result, the erosion has stopped temporarily.
Acting Executive Engineer of Chandpur Water Development Board Mamun Hawlader said, After identifying the 50-meter hazardous area and throwing 10,500 sandbags, the next 4,000 RCC blocks will be dumped.
The Bangladesh Water Development Board authorities claim the site is currently about 30 meters deep.
The erosion occurred last Sunday due to the impact of currents and waves at the bottom of the river.
