Comilla has set a target of collecting Tk 166 crore in the current financial year in 3 circles of the tax zone in Chandpur. Chandpur Deputy Tax Commission office sources said. Till June 30 of the last financial year, 96 crore 20 lakh have been collected in 3 circles in Chandpur district. But the target for tax collection that year was 155 crore. 23,549 taxpayers have paid taxes.

The target for the collection of salaries of all government and non-government officials of Circle 18 Chandpur Sadar and part of Chandpur Sadar tax is Tk 110 crore. 68 crore till June 30, 2020-21. The number of taxpayers listed in it is 14 thousand.

The tax collection target of Circle 19 is Tk 30 crore. 14 crore 14 lakh till June 30 of the last financial year. The number of taxpayers listed in it is 3130. Circle 21 Hajiganj’s tax collection target is 14 crore 6 lakh. Till June 30 of the last financial year, the collection was Tk 14 crore 6 lakh. The number of taxpayers listed in it is 6,419.

According to the data, Chandpur tax zone is divided into 3 parts. These are: Circles 18, 19 and 21. Circle 18 is the salary of all government and private officials of Chandpur Sadar, part of Chandpur Sadar, Circle 19 is Matlab North, Matlab South, Haimchar and Chandpur Sadar. Circle 21 is Kachua, Shahrasti and Hajiganj upazilas.

It is known that taxpayers file more income tax returns in May and June. The last date to submit the return was November 30, 2020. From then on, according to section 124 of the tax law, there is a provision to impose a fine of Tk 1,000 on the day after tax payment and Tk 50 daily on the next day. It has been extended to June 30 due to the current Corona situation.
