In 8 upazilas of Chandpur, different varieties of jute have been cultivated in 4,158 hectares of land in 2019-2020 this year. The production target has been set at 37,422 bales. Abdul Mannan, an agriculturist working in Chandpur District Agriculture Extension Department, gave this information.

The jute market is likely to go down as the use of plastic bags is temporarily introduced to curb the rise in rice prices.
