Chandpur Has Set A Target Of Producing 37,400 Bales Of Jute This Year

Chandpur has set a target of producing 37,400 bales of jute this year.Chandpur is one of the riverine agricultural areas of the country. In 8 upazilas of Chandpur, different varieties of jute have been cultivated in 4,158 hectares of land in 2019-2020 this year. The production target has been set at 37,422 bales. Abdul Mannan, an agriculturist working in Chandpur District Agriculture Extension Department, gave this information.

An agronomist said, ‘The country needs high quality jute seeds but it is not available. Farmers are often affected. He also directed the use of jute bags instead of plastic bags in the marketing of the country’s products. The jute market is likely to go down as the use of plastic bags is temporarily introduced to curb the rise in rice prices.
