Child killed in electrocution in Haimchar

A child has been electrocuted in Haimchar upazila of Chandpur. Two people were injured.

The tragic accident happened on Monday afternoon, May 31.

The deceased was identified as Rakibul Hasan, 11, son of Mizan Sheikh of Nayani Laxmipur village under Haimchar upazila. Haris Khan (70) and Rina Begum of the same house were seriously injured while trying to save the child.

The injured are currently undergoing treatment at the Upazila Health Complex.

It is learned that in the street in front of Abul Khair’s Patwary house in Nayani Laxmipur village of the upazila, an electric stick is attached to a tree. When the pedestrian child touches the tree, the lightning strikes and the child is seriously injured.

Later, two persons named Haris Khan (70) and Rina Begum of the same house were seriously injured while trying to save the child. The locals took the child to the Haimchar Health Complex and the doctor on duty declared the child dead.

The deceased Rakibul Hasan (11) is the eldest of 3 brothers, Rakibul studied in West Vingulia Hafezia Madrasa, Rakibul’s death has cast a shadow of mourning over the area.
