Chandpur Matlab Uttar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Gazi Shariful Hasan’s official mobile number has been cloned and a fraudulent group is trying to spread various misconceptions including calling various organizations and individuals to extort money.
His mobile number was cloned at noon on Tuesday, September 14. The Upazila administration has requested the public to be vigilant in this regard. Besides, posts have also been posted on the administration’s Facebook page to create awareness.
Confirming the matter, UNO Gazi Shariful Hasan said the mobile number used for government work was cloned at noon. A fraudulent group is demanding money from the UP chairman and people’s representatives over the phone. Although many people have been called, no one has been deceived yet, he said.
He added that the public has been asked to be vigilant after the number was cloned. Upazila administration along with Facebook ID, Matlab Uttar page also urged everyone to be aware.
Haji Mosaddek Hossain Murad, chairman of Ekhlachpur Union Parishad, said, “I was asked for money by calling from UNO’s mobile number. However, I did not make any transactions.”
Muhammad Shahjahan Kamal, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Matlab Uttar Police Station, urged to be aware of the fraud.
