Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, “Already the construction of 560 model mosque and Islamic cultural center has been started in each district and upazila at a cost of Tk 8,722 crore.”
The Prime Minister said this in response to a question from Rustam Ali Farazi the member of parliament from Jatiya Party during a question and answer session scheduled for her in Parliament.
She also said, ‘There was a promise of building an improved mosque in each district and upazila in the manifesto of the Awami League election of 2014. During the visit of the Ministry of Religion on February 8,2015 the libraries, research room,Islamic cultural activities,children’s education activities and separate prayer’s room for men and women, accommodation for guests, visits to foreign tourists, training of Hajj travelers etc. were implemented in each district and upazila for implementation of election manifesto.On April 5,2018 I announced the opening of the project by laying the foundation stone for building a model mosque and Islamic cultural center’.
She adeed, “Tenders have already been called for the construction of 9 model mosques. Construction work of 100 model mosques will be started this year in the second phase. Later, the remaining mosques will be constructed.
